Facilitated by Chantal Williams-Patterson, AMFT, and Moitreyee Chowdhury, LMFT
This group is designed to empower women therapists who identify as Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC). It offers a confidential, safe, and affirming space where members can connect with peers who truly understand the unique challenges and triumphs of navigating the mental health field as BIPOC women. Through shared experiences, professional discussions, and culturally informed support, members strengthen their resilience, combat burnout, and enhance their therapeutic practice. This group fosters a welcoming community, empowerment, and self-care, helping therapists thrive personally and professionally while honoring their identities.
Note that SCV-CAMFT support groups are a resource for our community, and not therapy groups, training, or supervision, and are not eligible for continuing education credit.
This group is free of charge for SCV-CAMFT members, and open to non-members, who can attend 2 meetings before joining the chapter.
This group typically meets the second Saturday of every month from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. We are currently meeting online. Links will be provided when you register. For questions, send an email to mail@scv-camft.org.
About the Facilitators
Chantal began her career in Christian counseling, where she integrated spirituality into therapy to help clients find healing and hope through their faith. She has experience in crisis counseling, and has facilitated court-mandated parenting classes to help families build healthier relationships and effective parenting skills. Currently, she works in a school setting which has been especially rewarding, as she has had the opportunity to counsel adolescents. As she continues to develop as a therapist, she is committed to empowering members of the BIPOC community by fostering their growth, resilience, and overall well-being.
Moitreyee founded Leela Mental Health, a group practice in Palo Alto serving Asian and South Asian communities. She specializes in trauma and anxiety therapy that honors ancestral and transgenerational experiences, working primarily with first- and second-generation immigrants and tech professionals. Using EMDR and CBT through a cultural lens, Moitreyee provides deeply personalized care. Former SCV-CAMFT DEI Director and Palo Alto University faculty, she brings leadership and lived experience to culturally-attuned mental health work.
